New Indiana Jones
short story
17/02/07, 2:47pm EST
Our
Fan
Fiction Archive has been updated with a very well written short
story by ''Lemuel Cork'.
This story is titled Indiana
Jones and the Chinatown Ghosts and takes place "on a cold winter night in 1946 when an older,
battered, troubled Indy finds faces from his past resurfacing during a
midnight visit to New York's Chinatown..." tells Lemuel Cork.
Indiana Jones and the Chinatown
Ghosts was previously posted on the Yoletide
Treasure site where it's been winning raves from readers and
various bloggers. One wrote, "Amazingly well-done
setting, great characterization, and a brilliant example of showing how
it's the people who know you best who can hurt you the most.";
another wrote, "This one does what Wrath of Khan
does with Kirk: confront the icon with his aging and mortality and
makes the guy emotionally real this way."
Right click here to download the 'Word' document
containing Lemuel Cork's Indiana Jones and the Chinatown Ghosts
story. And visit our Fan

New fan art by
Adam McDaniel
22/03/07, 5:57pm EST
The
Indy Fan
Art Museum has been updated with two new illustrations by longtime
contributor Adam
McDaniel. Adam's Indiana Jones illustration on the left is already
six years old and stands in great contrast to his latest Indy drawing
on the right; celebrating the official announcement of the upcoming
fourth Indiana Jones film.
 |
| Six years ago. |

| Celebrating Indy
4 today! |
|
Adam McDaniel wrote the following
about his new Indy 4 illustration:
"It's been six
years since I last painted Indiana Jones, so I whipped up (sorry -- bad
pun) some new artwork for your review.
Normally I'd
spend a good week or month doing something like this, but this was a
special drawing exercise with the intention of sketching, drawing,
painting, and completing entirely within a 24 hour period. (Thanks to
an art class I took last year by none other than Drew Struzan!) I might
do something a little more detailed and ambitious in the future, but
for now... it's a "refined sketch"."
Thanks to Adam McDaniel for his great
Indiana Jones fan art contributions to our Museum.

The Return of
Harrison Ford
03/04/07, 5:57pm EST
Writer
Stephen Jared is back! And this time not with a new film review but
with an article dedicated to Harrison Ford.
In The
Return of Harrison Ford Stephen discusses Ford's career and the
challenges of the upcoming fourth Indiana Jones film! Here follows an
except:
Call me naive, but I think this will
be one of the rare times when Hollywood is willing to spend tens of
millions of dollars to produce something that will not just turn a
profit but will actually be a worthwhile contribution to cinema
history. Harrison Ford is one of America's greatest actors and as far
as the perception that it's all about money goes, why spend ten years
developing a single script?
We hope you'll enjoy reading Stephen
Jared's The
Return of Harrison Ford article.
New feature on The
Simpsons animated series
30/04/07, 3:07pm EST
Since
the opening of the Indy's
Influences section section I have received countless e-mails from
visitors telling about a reference to Indiana Jones in an episode of
the popular animated series The
Simpsons.
The most mentioned -- and by now the
best known -- is the opening scene of episode 'Bart's Friend Falls in
Love' which parodies the famous opening sequence of Raiders of the
Lost Ark. But The Simpsons series contain many more homages
to the Indiana Jones trilogy!
Click
here to find out more about The Simpsons and the plenty
references to the Indiana Jones Trilogy hidden in its episodes.
Many thanks to all the visitors who
have contacted us with The Simpsons reference tips over the
past few years!
Next week: Indiana Jones references

Four new Indiana
Jones fan films
08/07/07, 1:42pm EST
Four
new Indiana Jones fan homages and parodies have been added to our Fan Films Theatre.
They're actually not that new as the oldest of the four was made in
1981. But they are all recent discoveries!
The most interesting of these four
short films must be Cleveland
Smith - Bounty Hunter as the hero of this adventure is played by
now "legendary" actor Bruce Campbell. And the Nazi is portrayed by
A-list director Sam Raimi; better know today for directing the Spider-Man
trilogy.
Sam and Bruce played in this film the same year their The Evil Dead
classic was released!
Our Fan Films Theatre
now features 31 Indiana Jones fan homages, parodies and even music
videos!
New film review: Pirates
of the Caribbean
09/07/07, 5:24pm EST
Our
writer Stephen Jared returns with a new adventure movie review. Not an
old classic but a new swashbuckling adventure series we've probably all
seen by now; Pirates
of the Caribbean!
If not seen, you must have at least heard about this trilogy thanks to
the Oscar-nominated performance by Johnny Depp.
Extra trivia: Because of the similar
character to the Indiana Jones films, Stuart Beattie - one of the
writers of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
- was rumored to be signed on to write the Indiana Jones 4
screenplay back in 2004.

New Indiana Jones
fan fiction
13/09/07, 2:57pm EST
Eminent archaeologist
Indiana Jones,
Brave and noble, good enough for our poems.
With a bull whip, leather jacket,
and brown hat,
He's afraid of snakes, but not a spider or bat.
He leaps from car to car on long
trains,
And rides on elephants, taxis, and planes.
He searches for Ark, Grail, and
Sankara Stones,
But much of the time he studies old bones.
Most women admire him for his
bravery.
Once he freed a whole town from slavery.
The poem you've just read was written by Jeremy Schwinger and is one of
the three new additions to our Fan
Fiction Archive. The others are a short story written by Jon
Anthone and a script by Graeme March:
- Script:
Indiana Jones and the Lost City of Gold
by Graeme
March
It's 1956. After one last
adventure in the caves of New Mexico, Indiana Jones vows to settle down
to a quiet life of marriage. When his plans are scuppered by Soviet
Agents, he is quickly off on another adventure with Marion's son,
Harry, in tow. Encountering old friends, vicious enemies, and deadly
creatures, they venture to the jungles of South America on a quest for
the Mythical Lost City of El Dorado.

An interview with
Indyfan/director Brandon Kleyla
17/12/07, 5:59pm EST
This
summer saw the launch of two Indiana Jones films that fans have been
dying to see. That's right, I said two! One, the long awaited fourth
installment of intrepid archeologist in Indiana Jones and the
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull starring Harrison Ford and the other
you might not have heard about yet, but you soon will. Indyfans and
the Quest for Fortune and Glory, is a documentary about Indiana
Jones fans made by "Indy Fans".
The film is a labor of love by
filmmaker/actor, Brandon Kleyla, who has been acting since age 3, and
appeared in such films as Free Enterprise, Children of the
Corn IV and Gods and Monsters. Brandon set out this year to
make Indyfans, to be the ultimate retrospective on Indiana
Jones.
Our paths crossed this June when
Brandon began reading my set reports on the filming of Indiana
Jones 4 in New Haven, CT on TheRaider.net and flew in to
interview me and other fans on the making of the film. Recently, I
turned the tables on Brandon for this exclusive
interview on Indyfans and the Quest for Fortune and Glory.
Enjoy!

Entertainment
Weekly calls TheRaider.net "Essential"
21/12/07, 7:48pm EST
The
most difficult thing is to write a news message about your own work.
Especially when the news is that a big magazine like Entertainment Weekly just placed you at the top of
their 25 best fansites list!
Here follows "a part of" Entertainment
Weekly writer Marc Bernardin 's explanation why TheRaider.net is essential:
"Even if you're not a serious
devotee — and don't feel like trawling message boards or contributing
to the fan-fiction database ("Raiders of the Corner Pharmacy," indeed)
— you'll find something of interest."
"While Indy's official home is
prettier, many features — like games and community hubs — aren't
currently live. And when it is completely online (probably early '08,
in advance of Indy 4), it'll actually feel a bit like TheRaider.net.
Imagine that."
You can read the full article on
TheRaider.net and all 24 other best fansites online at EW.com.
The Harry Potter fansite the-leaky-cauldron.org
came in second. And on third position you'll find lostpedia.com; a
fansite dedicated to the tv-series Lost. Two other exciting
adventure franchises, if you ask me. Kudos to them!
Entertainment Weekly's Best of the
Web list is also a feature in their latest magazine, which should be on
stands in the USA today.
Big congratulations and thanks to all
the contributors to TheRaider.net.
And very special thanks to Entertainment Weekly!

Narrative Form
Case-study of The Last Crusade
25/12/07, 2:24pm EST
If
you've got some free time this Christmas vacation and are looking for
something good to read, you may want to check out our new feature
article as well as an extensive master thesis on Indiana Jones!
Indiana
Jones and the Last Crusade: A Narrative Form Case-study is our new
feature article written by Joaquim Ghirotti. This very interesting
article was originally an academic analysis of The Last Crusade
Joaquim wrote for his master's degree on film scriptwriting, which he
took at the university of Westminster in London. Be sure to check it
out as Joaquim succeeded at writing a very
insightful article!
The second read I can present you on
this Christmas day is an approximately 90 pages counting Indiana Jones Master Thesis written by Russ
Crespolini. This thesis got Russ his master's degree in communication
studies in 2002!
Russ Crespolini's Indiana Jones Master Thesis is only available in
.pdf format. So right click here (or the link here above) and
select "save as" to download the thesis on your computer.
Special thanks to Joaquim Ghirotti and
Russ Crespolini for these excellent quality analyzations of Indiana
Jones' cinematic adventures.
