2006 The winners of the
Firewall poster contest
Friday,
February 10, 2006, 4:05pm EST
Today,
simultaneous with the release of Harrison Ford's latest thriller
Firewall, I can give away 3 posters to the winners of our Firewall
poster contest!
Here are the 3 winners who will soon
receive a Firewall poster from Warner Bros.:
- Indiana Jones and the Caverns of
Quivara
by Kyle Cossairt
- Indiana Jones and the Shanghai
Scroll
by Ryan Cox
- Indiana Jones and the Fate of the
Film
by Devin Kowalski
Kyle and Ryan both came up with a very
original and classic adventure story idea for the fourth Indiana Jones
film. Their ideas would fit perfectly in a post WWII world!
While Devin made up a fun story about Indy saving classic filmmaking
and the golden era of movies from CGI crazy Hollywood villains! His
story idea is in no way meant to offend but only to have some fun and
to show respect for the classic way of making films. And his story idea
indeed reads as it could be a fun adventure!
All entries are online and can be read
here.
To get a chance at winning one of
these Firewall posters you had to come up with a serious or fun story
idea for Indiana Jones IV and submit it to us by February 7th.
Special thanks to Warner Bros. for
making this Firewall poster contest possible! And good luck to Harrison
Ford , his co-stars and the crew of Firewall!
Two Indiana Jones fan film updates
Monday, April 3, 2006 - Gilles V
Our Fan Films Theater has been updated with a new music video entitled Belly of the Steel Beast and a new teaser trailer for the Jefferson Jones & Jax Skywalker short film.
Belly of the Steel Beast is a new 8 minute music video by Steven Ramsey. His song is inspired by Rhapsody, the founders of epic symphonic power metal, and expands on the ideas of the original Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade soundtrack song Belly of the Steel Beast, by John Williams. Steven Ramsey previously made the Indy inspired Sophia and Heart of the Lions Den music videos.
A new teaser trailer for the short film The Quest for the Terra-Cotta Soldier: A Jefferson Jones & Jax Skywalker Adventure has been released on the film's official site. The film is expected to be released sometime this summer!
New design on Raiders'
25th anniversary
12/06/06, 2:38pm EST
Today it has been exactly
25 years since the world got introduced to Indiana Jones in Raiders of the
Lost Ark. The first Indy adventure became the highest grossing film
of 1981 and became the beginning of a much loved franchise including
video games, comic books, novels, toys, a tv-series based on Indy's
teenage adventures and of course 2 more Indiana Jones films... and a
third in the making!
As you may have noticed
by now, we have also given TheRaider.net
a complete makeover. But that's not the only thing we prepared for this
very special day for the Indy fans! Here follows a list of new
information and downloads:
A
collection of 1.200 DVD Screenshots
Thanks to the fantastic Indiana Jones Trilogy DVD box we are able to
present 3 galleries with 400 screenshots of each film!
- Raiders
of the Lost Ark
- Indiana
Jones and the Temple of Doom
- Indiana
Jones and the Last Crusade
Other new film information like memorable quotes and lists of all known
filming locations have also been added. Go check them out!
Indiana
Jones Mosaic Wallpapers
We didn't just collect all these DVD screenshots in galleries but also
made a few Mosaic
wallpapers with them. Each of these wallpapers shows a picture of
Indiana Jones from one of the films. Look closer at them and you will
see that each "pixel" is actually a DVD screenshot. There are four
different Mosaic wallpapers available; one for each film and a 4th
"Trilogy" wallpaper collecting all images. You can download them all here.
References
to Indiana Jones
When we started with the Indy's
Influences section a few years ago, our plan was also to include
info on references to Indiana Jones in other films. Though we never got
to actually make these pages. Until now!
The first 3 pages are online and tell you all about references in the Toy
Story films, the Danger
Girl comic book, and even in the popular Lost
tv-series. All with screenshots included!
You may also expect info on references found in The Simpsons & Magnum
P.I. series, in the Ultimate Spider-Man
comic book, and many more!
You may expect even more
new features on TheRaider.net in the
near future. Such as a brand new Collectibles
section with info on the Indiana Jones toys -- which is almost ready to
be launched -- and a revised & expanded version of the Literature
and Video
Games sections.
Currently not available are our extensive News Archives but
give us some time and all the old news messages will return.
And from today on, all
kinds of small and big updates to TheRaider.net
will be reported here.
That's all for today.
Thank you for your interest & support and enjoy Raiders of the
Lost Ark's 25th anniversary!
Tales of the
Gold Monkey review and interview
19/06/06, 1:52pm EST
This
week we present to you a double feature on a great adventure series
from the early 80's. Tales
of the Gold Monkey was a brilliantly conceived television series
and a tribute to many of Hollywood's best works from its golden years.
But to many people, Gold Monkey only seems a rip-off of Indiana
Jones and Raiders of the Lost Ark.
That's absolutely not true, and our writer Stephen Jared will explain
to you all about that in his new review
of Tales of the Gold Monkey.
And as a
bonus, Stephen Jared also interviewed
a few of the talents that created Tales of the Gold Monkey.
Participants include Stephen Collins who played Jake Cutter (also known
as the reverend in 7th Heaven), Jeff MacKay who played Corky,
Tom Greene who wrote and produced for the show and Harvey Laidman who
was one of the series directors.
Special thanks to Shipwreck for the interview
assistance and Trevor Grove for the Tales of the Gold Monkey
illustration you see here above.

cool "Jock's Hovito Tribe Excursions" logo you see here on the right.
You can view a larger version of the
logo and the four images of Mark's 3D bi-plane model at the new 3D

Hitchcock's
Influences on Spielberg
04/09/06, 2:48pm EST
This
week we have a new article written by Arnaud Palisson about Hitchcock's
Influences on Spielberg with Raiders of the Lost Ark as an
example.
Arnaud Palisson previously wrote the very interesting e-book entitled Adventures of the Lost Ark
in which he took an in depth look at the films of Spielberg through a
424 page analysis of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Though
unfortunately for some, that e-book was written completely in French.
But Arnaud's latest article is in
English and fully illustrated with over 60 screenshots. Go check out
his great 3 page article about Hitchcock's
Influences on Spielberg now!

TheRaider.net
is very pleased to present to you Indiana

begins with publishing all 28 pages of this first chapter online here
for everybody to discover!
And next week we will bring you the 7 first and brand new pages of the
second chapter of the Staff of Moses! And so continue with 7

Cecil B. DeMille's
Influences on Spielberg
20/11/06, 5:29pm EST
Today
Arnaud Palisson is back with another article
on Raiders of the Lost Ark and Spielberg's influences.
This time he takes a closer look at the legendary Cecil B. DeMille,
director of films like The Greatest Show on Earth (1952) and The
Ten Commandments (1956) as DeMille's work has been a great impact
on Steven Spielberg. Arnaud took a closer look at their films to see if
any influences and homages to DeMille's films can be found in Raiders
of the Lost Ark.
Click
here to read about Arnaud's findings and theories. The article
includes DVD screenshots from both DeMille's and Spielberg's films.
Arnaud Palisson previously wrote the
extensive article Hitchcock's
