Han Solo Vs.
Indiana Jones
03/02/10, 9:31am EST
There are some questions that will always plaque mankind. Who is
stronger Rambo or Rocky, King Kong or Godzilla, but anyone reading this
or listening to the IndyCast has always wondered just one thing...
Who is better, Han Solo or Indiana
Jones?
Well much better looking than any Jay
and Silent Bob sketch we have two "fan girls" at a comic shop (yes it
has to be a fantasy) on which Harrison Ford character is better.
See some blaster banging and
whip-cracking action compliments of Milo Ventimiglia's cool show Ultradome
on Parallel Universe and find out who's the best!
Stick around and watch which trilogy is better Star Wars or Lord
of the Rings. Now, the one I really want to see is Mr. Fantastic
versus Plastic Man!

Harrison Ford
Joins Cowboys & Aliens
07/04/10, 12:45pm
EST
Cowboys & Aliens
Graphic novel cover. |
|
Latino
Review recently picked up a rumor that Harrison Ford, may be
returning to space, but this time without a whip or Wookiee. As the
rumors swirl it appears that Ford might be part of the latest big
screen comic book adaptation in Jon Favreau's Cowboys & Aliens.
And yes, it looks like this Ford rumor about his next film is 100%
TRUE! As the director confirmed it himself on his verified Twitter
account early today.
Jon Favreau: "Please
stop asking if Harrison Ford is in Cowboys & Aliens.
Okay? He is. Please don't tell anybody."
The film has had some major stars
associated with it, most notable was Favreau's Iron Man star,
Robert Downey, Jr., who has since moved off the project and is being
replaced by Daniel Craig. Which makes this Ford's second time teaming
with a certain member of Her Majesty's Secret Service!
The Cowboys & Aliens
graphic novel tells the story of settlers and Native Americans waging a
bloody battle for control of the land. But when the Earth is threatened
by conquerors from the stars, these sworn enemies must work together to
save all humanity.
The screenplay is written by Alex
Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, (writers of Transformers & Star
Trek) and Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof. Kurtzman,
Orci, Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, and Brian
Grazer are producing. The release date is currently set for June 24,
2011.
Maybe it was his encounter with the
Crystal Skull "interdimensional beings" that left him wanting more. Now
if only we can get some Indy 5 news!

Lucas Donates
Harrison Ford's Indy Hat for Auction
18/04/10, 9:02am EST
You
say you want a piece of Indy memorabilia, a Harrison Ford autograph and
maybe something from the collection of George Lucas? Well, do I have a
deal for you! From StarWars.com:
In an auction to benefit The Robert
F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights, George Lucas has
donated a rare iconic piece of movie history to help raise money to
advance the human rights movement throughout the world. Here's part of
the auction description:
"Now, you have the
once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own one of the famous fedoras
actually worn by Harrison Ford during production of Indiana Jones
and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Of the custom fedoras used
during the filming of Indy's fourth big screen adventure, this is one
of the 'slightly aged' versions of the iconic headgear, showcased when
the rugged and rumpled adventurer has gotten himself into a tight spot.
"Indiana Jones' hat is arguably one of the most famous hats in cinema
history. This hat is particularly special as it is from the personal
collection of the director -- the one and only George Lucas!"
At the time of this writing the
bidding is at $9,000.00. Maybe this is the time to sell off your Indy
figures, posters, cards and other items to get enough to own this prize!

USC Bestows Lucas
with its "Highest Honor"
18/04/10, 9:04am EST
Not
only has George Lucas received fortune and glory from his film
creations over the years, he is now getting an honor form the place
where he honed his skills. The University of Southern California is
bestowing Mr. Lucas with its Presidential Medallion on April 26th.
"We at USC are
so proud to count George Lucas as a member of our Trojan family,"
said USC President Steven B. Sample. "He has
distinguished himself as a creative genius, a prescient supporter of
multimedia literacy and a devoted alumnus."
"Not only has he inspired and delighted audiences
worldwide with his imagination, but he is generous in ensuring that new
generations of artists and innovators can illuminate the human
condition and give wings to their greatest dreams," Sample said.
To read more about Mr. Sample's words
read the article at the Daily Breeze, as well as read about Mr. Lucas'
previous donations to the school.
Now do you think he will walk down an
aisle in a throne room like they did in Star Wars?

Actually, you don't have to go
through all those challenges if you want to be the owner of the cup of
Christ used in the 1989 film; Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
just be the highest bidder.
The auction house of Profiles in History has the Holy Grail prop that
Indiana Jones drank from up for auction with opening bids of $15,000 0
$20,000. Here is a description of that sacred Indyfan relic from their
website:
921. The Holy
Grail from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. (Paramount,
1989) The Holy Grail, made of fired terracotta and painted to resemble
ancient earthenware, heavily weathered, with very bright gold leaf
paint on the inside surface. In the final sequence of the film, Indy
uses it to save his father, Henry Jones, Sr. (played by Sean Connery)
via its "Divine healing properties". An icon of the film and the key
plot device, this wonderful artifact is an important and instantly
recognizable piece of Hollywood history. Measures 5 ¾ in. tall x

'Jack and the
Jungle Lion', a Romance of Adventure!
16/08/10, 8:46am EST
Stephen Jared |
|
You know him as the writer of many of our Indy's Influences articles and interviews with
adventure experts such as Simon Wincer, Charles Ardai, Beau L'Amour and Alan Ladd Jr.. But I bet you didn't know Stephen
Jared is also a Hollywood based actor and fiction author.
And now, with his very first self published novel Jack and the
Jungle Lion, Stephen Jared proves that he is not only a passionate
fan of the adventure genre but also an expert in writing captivating
adventure stories himself!
In his first novel, Stephen Jared
shares the tale of old Hollywood legend Jack Hunter who finds himself
lost after his plane crash landed in the Amazon jungle. Surrounded by
giant snakes, poison pits and hostile headhunters it is up to Jack to
prove animal trainer Max and her two kids he is an equal hero in real
life as the macho adventurer he usually portrays on the big screen!
Paul Shipper with his painted cover art. |
|
Not only does Jack and
the Jungle Lion turn out to be a most charming adventure story
about the Golden Age of Hollywood, but to make the picture perfect --
or in this case book -- Stephen Jared turned to talented illustrator
Paul Shipper to create a magnificent painted movie poster perfectly
capturing the spirit of classical Hollywood adventures!
Paul Shipper is of course not an
unfamiliar name to longtime visitors of TheRaider.net as he has
been contributing to this website ever since our first year in 2000.
Since then he has grown from an Indyfan submitting fan work to a professional illustrator already
having worked on a Lucasfilm project for the Star Wars
franchise.
Visit the official Jack and
the Jungle Lion website for more information on the novel and
author Stephen Jared. And click here for a first review.
I'd like to end with wishing both Stephen Jared
and Paul Shipper
a lot of well deserved success with Jack and the Jungle Lion
and the best of luck writing the sequel... for which I hope Stephen
will make!
